Sun, Water, the Rythym of Days - April 2026

It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere

Lisa and Lauren, a friend we have known since college days, came for two weeks. We worked in the mornings, doors closed. Coffee going fast. Each of us in our own space.

Then a text. You ready?

We would meet outside. Sit by the water. Order something cold. No rush.

One day we took the water taxi up to Fort Lauderdale and shopped the chic shops of Las Olas. Took the boat back loaded with packages. Boats moved past us. Some loud. Some silent. We watched them the way you watch a different life.

We got off. Walked. Ate. Sat. We sailed home in the dark, wrapping ourselves in scarves against the cool night breezes.

Always First on the Dance Floor

Most nights, we went out. Meeting the ladies for Happy Hour at GGs or The Greek Joint. Dinner first. Then a walk.

Sometimes the bandshell where the Music of our youth carried across the open air. We joined in the line dancing. People filming us like were part of the show. I met a woman there. She was from near my neighborhood in New York. She spent an hour with us on the dance floor.

There were beach days. Pool days. Long walks that didn’t go anywhere in particular. We went to the gym just enough to feel we were doing good things for our bodies.

What stays is not a single moment. It’s the way the days moved.

Work.
Pause.
Sun.
Water.
Back again.

No pressure. Just time, used well. They both went to the Airport today - Lisa is off to NYC and Lauren is off to Rome.
