Summer Drinks on the Cape

I took a vacation day for Friday, so I drove to Diane’s house Thursday evening. We loaded up our bikes, reorganized our bags, and hit the road toward the Cape — that familiar mix of anticipation, freedom, and just a touch of giddiness that always happens when you know you have a girls’ weekend ahead.

We checked into the Lighthouse Inn, the kind of classic Cape resort that feels nostalgic the moment you arrive — ocean breezes, white trim, sand underfoot, and that salty smell that lets you know you’re officially away from real life. We unpacked, took a breath, and immediately felt ourselves shift into vacation mode.

Friday — Biking the Cape

Friday was our biking day. We brought our bikes specifically for this, and the riding did not disappoint. We pedaled along Cape Cod’s scenic paths — dunes and marshes on one side, glimpses of open ocean on the other, the kind of ride that feels effortless because every few minutes you have to slow down just to take it all in. And of course stopping for Coffee, snacks, and shopping.

The weather cooperated beautifully, warm but not oppressive, with a light breeze that made the miles feel easy. By mid-afternoon we were sun-kissed, happy, and hungry — the perfect trio for a cocktail hour.

That evening we met up with Meredith’s sisters for drinks. It was relaxed, easy conversation, lots of laughter, and the beginning of the celebratory mood that would carry into the next day.

Saturday — The Bridal Shower

Saturday was all about Meredith. The bridal shower luncheon was beautiful — thoughtful details, shared stories, a sweet and happy atmosphere that felt very “her.” It was especially meaningful to be there with Diane, celebrating Kevin and Meredith as they move into this new chapter.

After the luncheon, we embraced Cape Cod life to the fullest with a fun night out: dinner, drinks at a bougie clubhouse overlooking the Atlantic, and that lovely feeling of summer on the Cape.

Sunday — Back Home

We headed home Sunday morning, tired in the best possible way — refreshed, connected, and grateful for a simple but perfect combination of friendship, celebration, and adventure.

A short trip, but exactly the kind of weekend that nourishes your spirit.
