Building the Peace Cabin Garden — A Sanctuary of Stone, Soil, and Stillness - Jul 2023

This summer, one of the most meaningful projects on our property came to life — the creation of the Peace Cabin Garden, a sanctuary built around our little outdoor A-frame retreat we affectionately call the Peace Cabin. What began as a simple idea became a true creative journey, shaped by intention, artistry, and the hands of people we love.

Benjamin and his employees designed and built a flagstone pathway that winds gracefully through the space, guiding anyone who enters toward stillness. The stones feel grounded and ancient, as if they’ve always belonged there. Lush plantings now frame the cabin and the path — soft greens, texture-rich foliage, and blooms chosen not just for beauty but for the quiet sense of wellbeing they bring.

Scattered throughout the garden are sculptures and contemplative pieces, each chosen to evoke reflection, peace, or a moment of internal pause. Together, the stones, plants, and art create a sense of harmony that’s difficult to articulate but unmistakable when you step inside.

The Peace Cabin has always been a favorite place to slip away — a small A-frame tucked into the trees where we nap on summer afternoons, meditate, or simply sit and look out at the gardens. But now, with the surrounding garden complete, the cabin feels woven into something larger. The space invites ritual, breath, and presence.

The creation of this garden wasn’t just landscaping — it was art, family, and spirit coming together. Watching Benjamin and his team craft something so intentional and beautiful felt like witnessing the property evolve in real time into a deeper version of itself.

Now the Peace Cabin Garden stands as a living meditation — a place to rest, reflect, and reconnect.
A true Creative Journey, and one I’ll treasure as part of my 1000 Adventures.
